What is a Body Lift?

A body lift, also called a 360 body lift, belt lipectomy, or circumferential body lift, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen, sides, and lower back to create a more sculpted and contoured appearance.

This procedure can be seen as an extended or 360-degree tummy tuck, as it not only targets the abdominal area but also addresses loose skin around the flanks and lower back.

By removing this excess tissue, the procedure can also lift and improve the appearance of the buttocks, providing a more balanced and toned overall silhouette.

Benefits of Body Lift Surgery

A lower body lift can transform both appearance and confidence, offering lasting improvements to your figure and overall wellbeing. The procedure provides several key benefits:

Improved mobility: Reduces excess weight from the lower abdomen and hips for easier movement.

Clothing confidence: Allows you to wear the clothes you want, including bikinis, with a low, discreet scar.

Muscle repair: Corrects separated abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis) to eliminate a persistent bulge.

Youthful figure restoration: Helps restore body shape after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

Boosted self-esteem: Enhances overall confidence and comfort in your body.

Body Lift Recovery and Aftercare

Instructions on discharge

Wear your compression garment over the dressings day and night for the first 2 weeks, then during the daytime only for the next 3 months. Keep all dressings dry until advised otherwise. TED stockings should be worn for 2 weeks, and standard painkillers should be taken as needed.

Dressings Clinic

Your first post-op check is usually about a week after surgery, when the pressure garment may be removed. Most sutures are dissolvable unless otherwise instructed by your surgeon.

Activities

For the first 2 weeks, keep activity minimal (e.g., walking to the bathroom, light meals). From 3–6 weeks, normal daily activities including driving are generally safe. After 6 weeks, you may resume sports, but avoid abdominal exercises for up to 6 months.

General scar care for First 3 Months

Apply micropore tape to the scars for at least 3 months once they are well healed. Keep tape on during showers and baths, patting dry gently. Avoid frequent removal as this can irritate scars. After 3 months, moisturise scars and surrounding abdominal skin, including the umbilical area, and perform gentle stretching exercises to prevent scar shrinkage.

Special Instructions

Wear the compression garment during the day for 3 months. Bikini-style or low-cut underwear is fine for special occasions. Contact your surgeon if you notice any problems or have concerns during your recovery.

Body Lift Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about body lift surgery

What is a 360 body lift?

A 360 body lift, also known as a lower body lift or circumferential body lift, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat around the abdomen, hips, flanks, and lower back. It can also lift the buttocks, creating a smoother, more contoured lower body shape.

Who is suitable for a 360 body lift?

Ideal candidates are adults who have lost significant weight, have sagging skin around the midsection and lower back, are close to their target weight, maintain a stable BMI, and are in good overall health.

What are the benefits of a 360 body lift?

Benefits include improved body contour and shape, reduced excess skin and fat, enhanced mobility, boosted self-confidence, and a more youthful lower body appearance.

How is a 360 body lift performed?

The surgery involves removing excess skin and fat through circumferential incisions around the midsection and lower back. The remaining skin is tightened, and underlying muscles may be reinforced to create a firmer, more toned appearance.

What is the recovery time after a 360 body lift?

Most patients can return to light activities within 2–3 weeks, but full recovery may take 6–12 weeks. Strenuous activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least 6 weeks.

Are there different types of 360 body lifts?

Yes. Procedures may vary depending on the areas targeted. A standard lower body lift focuses on the abdomen and flanks, while a full 360 body lift addresses the entire midsection, hips, flanks, and buttocks.

Will there be scars after a 360 body lift?

Yes, incisions are necessary for the procedure, but they are usually placed in discreet locations such as along the natural waistline. Scar management techniques, including compression garments and moisturising, help minimise visibility.

How long do results last from a 360 body lift?

Results are long-lasting if a stable weight is maintained. Significant weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or aging can affect the appearance, but the procedure permanently removes excess skin and fat present at the time of surgery.

"

I was very concerned about my breast implant removal and the shape I would be left with. I opted for a removal and an uplift. I love the look of my breasts after the operation. They have a great shape and I feel so confident about my new look. I was also concerned about the scarring but that seems to be fading relatively quickly. An amazing surgeon he put me at ease throughout and I wish I had done this sooner. If I were to have further surgery I would go back to Andrej.

I am incredibly pleased with the outstanding care and expertise Maria Chasapi has brought to my surgery. From the initial consultation to the final follow-up, her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were second to none. She took the time to understand my goals, explained every step with clarity, and made me feel completely at ease throughout the process. The results have exceeded my expectations—not just aesthetically, but in how confident and comfortable I now feel.

"

Mr Salibi listened to my concerns, he explained the procedure in great detail and answered my list of questions. His persona, his calmess, his reassurance left me feeling at ease and I was so eager to have my tummy tuck after years of hiding my body under smocks and over shirts. I am now six weeks post op and cannot stop smiling... My scar is so neat, so perfect and is healing exceptionally well. My body confidence has returned and I cannot thank My Salibi enough for working his magic.
