Breast Lift

Mastopexy, commonly known as a breast uplift, is a surgical procedure designed to lift and reshape sagging breasts, restoring a firmer, more youthful appearance. Over time, factors such as ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight changes can reduce skin elasticity, leading to a loss of breast shape and support.

What is Breast Uplift Surgery?

Breast uplift surgery is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts by restoring a more youthful, uplifted appearance. The procedure focuses on improving breast position, firmness, and overall contour rather than significantly increasing breast size.

During a breast uplift, excess skin is removed and the remaining breast tissue is reshaped to provide better support. The nipple and areola are repositioned to sit higher on the breast, creating a more natural and balanced look. This can help correct drooping, improve breast symmetry, and restore lost definition to the upper breast area.

Breast uplift surgery is commonly chosen by women who have experienced changes in breast shape due to ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or natural gravity over time. It can be performed on its own or combined with breast implants if additional volume or fullness is desired.

What are the benefits of Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast lift surgery offers a range of benefits that can enhance both the appearance of your breasts and your overall confidence:

Restore a more youthful, lifted breast shape

Improve firmness and upper breast fullness

Enhance the natural breast contour and definition

Reposition the nipple and areola for a more balanced appearance

Improve breast symmetry, with the option to combine surgery with a breast reduction if required

Achieve natural looking, long-lasting results tailored to your body

Many patients also report a significant boost in confidence following breast uplift surgery, feeling more comfortable wearing fitted clothing, lingerie, or swimwear.

Breast Lift Techniques

Anchor (Inverted-T) Technique
This traditional approach uses incisions around the areola, extending vertically down to the breast crease and horizontally along the crease itself. It allows for significant lifting and reshaping of the breast tissue, making it ideal for women with moderate to severe breast ptosis (sagging).

Vertical (Lollipop) Technique
The vertical technique involves incisions around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease. It is suitable for moderate breast sagging and offers effective reshaping with less scarring compared to the anchor technique.

Peri-areolar Technique
This method uses a circular incision around the areola and is best suited for mild breast ptosis. It results in minimal visible scarring but is generally not recommended for more pronounced sagging.

Discharge Instructions

On the day of discharge, any surgical drains will be removed. A sports bra (compression garment) should be worn over your dressings and must be worn day and night for the next three months, unless advised otherwise.

  • Keep all dressings clean and dry until further instructions are given
  • TED stockings should be worn for two weeks following surgery
  • You will be discharged with standard pain relief medication

Dressings Clinic

Approximately one week after your mastopexy, the strapping around the breasts will be removed and replaced with a lighter dressing over the scars. A second dressing review may be arranged a week later if required.

Activities and Exercise

To support healing and reduce complications, please follow these activity guidelines:

  • First 6 weeks: Avoid stretching or raising your arms
  • After 1 week: Gentle daily activities such as driving may be resumed
  • After 3 weeks: Lower body exercise is permitted (e.g. treadmill walking or cycling)
  • From 6 weeks onwards: Upper body exercise may be resumed, including swimming and arm stretching

Scar Care (First 3 Months)

Proper scar care is essential for optimal healing:

  • Apply Micropore tape to the scars for at least three months, or until fully healed
  • The tape should remain in place during showers and baths and be gently patted dry
  • Only replace the tape once it becomes very loose and begins to fall off naturally
  • Avoid frequent tape changes, as this may irritate the scar
  • Begin moisturising the scars after three months
  • The surrounding breast skin can usually be moisturised from week two onwards

Special Instructions

  • A normal bra or bikini may be worn for holidays or special occasions during the first three months
  • Avoid underwired bras for the first three months after surgery

"

I was very concerned about my breast implant removal and the shape I would be left with. I opted for a removal and an uplift. I love the look of my breasts after the operation. They have a great shape and I feel so confident about my new look. I was also concerned about the scarring but that seems to be fading relatively quickly. An amazing surgeon he put me at ease throughout and I wish I had done this sooner. If I were to have further surgery I would go back to Andrej.

"

I am incredibly pleased with the outstanding care and expertise Maria Chasapi has brought to my surgery. From the initial consultation to the final follow-up, her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were second to none. She took the time to understand my goals, explained every step with clarity, and made me feel completely at ease throughout the process. The results have exceeded my expectations—not just aesthetically, but in how confident and comfortable I now feel.

"

Mr Salibi listened to my concerns, he explained the procedure in great detail and answered my list of questions. His persona, his calmess, his reassurance left me feeling at ease and I was so eager to have my tummy tuck after years of hiding my body under smocks and over shirts. I am now six weeks post op and cannot stop smiling... My scar is so neat, so perfect and is healing exceptionally well. My body confidence has returned and I cannot thank My Salibi enough for working his magic.
